Torks my Turkey

I am so freaking frustrated.

I know it sounds like we aren't trying to find a temp job at all, it sounds like we're just lazy. But seriously, folks, it couldn't be farther from the truth. Three weeks ago I applied for a temp office job. I backed out when I didn't think I could find babysitting . . . but the next week I found someone willing to watch elle-belle full time if we needed it. Because the next week was Thanksgiving, everyone was out of the office and not able to interview . . . so we just spent the time relaxing with my dad and having fun. The next Tuesday (28th) I interviewed and they said I could start the next day after getting approval from the VP. So we've been waiting on VP approval and now I get a phone call the the VP wants to review the applicants himself and interview 3 people himself for the job. Huh?!! Does this guy know it's a temp office job? For 10 flipping bucks an hour? And I have a BA in accounting, etc.? What's the deal? So they try to set up an interview for me on Monday and I'm like I don't care about this flipping job just get me into one ASAP!!! I haven't been applying for anything else because supposedly I was supposed to start last Wednesday!!!

Meanwhile Darik has gone through the process at three temp agencies and have nothing come up. We've been trying to get the Gazette newspaper guy to call us back about doing a paper route; he's applied for a temp December USPS delivery guy; and even trying to call all the school districts to see if they have any janitorial or school bus, etc. openings; and even temp jobs with ACT in Iowa City. We've got nothin' so far. He did call a guy in the ward last night who said he can find a job for him to do, but he had to go in for a drug test today that won't get the results and won't be able to start til Monday. But it looks like Darik is now taken care of.

His phone interview with ISU went awesome on Tuesday morning. They are still just dragging their feet. They said they'd get back to him in a few days about taking the next step (flying out for an interview). So that's all coming along; as a backup he's already accepted a job in customer service at Aegon here in CR starting Jan 1. And he's still scheduled for the LV Metro PD in February if we want to do that.

I'm just so frustrated because it feels like we're doing all that we can do and jack crack is happening ya know? Oh well, patience is a virtue -- and one that I should obviously be working on!!!
