Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday began with sunrise ceremony, a miller family tradition. It's where you gather everyone on the porch/deck at the crack o' dawn to watch the sun rise. Everybody's bundled up in blankets as we listen to hymns, read scriptures, and tell stories about the Savior. It's really awesome to have a holiday that just celebrates the Resurrection, if you think about it -- sometimes the resurrective part of the atonement gets a bum rap when compared to the redemptive powers (i.e. not talked about as much). I always feel it's a little more Christ-centered than Christmas is. It's nice

It was also Elle's first "real" Easter with candy. Last year we skipped the candy and just did the dress. This year the easter bunny made a trail from downstairs all the up to the family room where candy was strewn and hidden everywhere. Then you just say "go" and let the kiddies go nuts filling their baskets. Ellie was less intersted in picking up more candy than she was in eating what she already had. We'll have to evaluate this tradition though -- I'm probably more in favor of getting a gift with the $ than blowing it on candy. We never got anything extra except a dress and candy. But that's a discussion for the future.
