Sweet Corn Festival

On Saturday in Cedar Rapids the St. Jude Catholic Church held their annual Sweet Corn Festival. For a church it was a pretty big shindig. Darik works with two guys that go to that church and they've been telling him how cool it is . . . so we decided to go. It's pretty much a carnival, which is cool. But they hold it right around corn harvest time to celebrate corn, I guess.

This is Darik stuffing his face and Ellie wanting a cookie

This is Ellie enjoying her cookie

This is us being suckered into paying $2 to put Ellie on the Merry-go-Round. I never really did cool stuff like this as a kid so we decided to choose one thing for all of us to do that we had never done before. This one was for Ellie and me. Notice the very scary looking horse! Seinfeld has a great bit about this on his last stand-up CD, just ask & I'll lend it to ya! Anyway, we ended up thinking it was worth it. Ellie was so happy and was just laughing her head off as the horse went up and down and as she petted its hair.

This is Darik doing his one thing he had never done before: Gamble!! He bought a raffle ticket to win a Mustang or $10k. We wanted the cash, but fate was against us.

This is us going home. The party was just getting started, but alas, we have a baby who gets tired and cranky really early!! Aren't they cute???!
