Work - A Four Letter Word

This is a picture of us at the last RoughRiders picnic -- it will be the last RR picnic we'll ever go to, in fact . . . for all of you who don't know, Darik is now job searching. His last day with the RoughRiders will be sometime around Thanksgiving. One of the best things I've heard lately is that my dad told me, "having a degree doesn't keep you from getting laid off, it does open ten times as many doors for you when you're looking for a job afterwards, though." And can I just add an amen to that? Pres. Hinckley knew what he was talking about at Conference in October when he told all the men to obtain as much education as possible. There are ten times as many jobs available that pay two to three times as much as the jobs open that don't require a BA. Right now I would be scared to death without having a BA, but there are so many more jobs out there right now that are better than the RoughRiders job that pay a lot more that we are getting leads for (One of the owners of the Bakersfield Blitz called Darik and asked for his resume for the GM position that is open, he's meeting the VP of a local research marketing company for lunch to discuss openings/career/future, etc.). I have LOTS of HOPE. I'm also VERY VERY VERY EXCITED to not have to go through another hockey season this winter. I need my husband on Saturdays!! p.s. see this link here from Yahoo!News about BAs getting an average of $23k more than HS degrees.
