It's official . . .

Ellie's first ear infection. She's been sick for a week and I was bound and determined to just wait it out instead of paying $150 out-of-pocket for lab fees that aren't covered by insurance. But alas the last two days of pulling on poking her ears convinced me otherwise. Plus on Sunday I woke up crazy sick with what I thought were ear infections of my own (not to worry, it's just painfully unbalanced eustachian tubes ).

So we go to her Doc and sure enough hiding behind ear gunk is a nice little infection. We'll get her going on antibiotics and she should be raring to go for Turkey Day. Problem? My doctor we saw today thinks I'm approching the peak of the badness of my cold/flu. My temp was over 101* and he seemed only a little worried -- actually he looked more worried that I was sick and taking care of a sick toddler in the middle of Thanksgiving . . . ya know, when mom's are supposed to be the ones that pull everything together!! We have several good friends in the ward who have invited us over for the Turkey Day meal so we're taken care of. Yet another big holiday I avoided having to do the mom thing for. Maybe in 5 more years (when I've been married for 10 years, that sounds old enough!) I will feel enough of an expert to approach that without trepidation!
