Momma's Girl

For the longest time Ellie has been quite the daddy's girl. If he's around he's just where it's at, ya know? It's been like, "who cares about you, mom -- I've got dad now!" I've read that toddlers can be quite fickle . . . and their "favorite parent" preferences can switch back and forth fairly quickly. I just didn't think it could happen this quickly . . . We've discovered the secret of how to make it switch. For a while Darik has been waking up first to go get Ellie up from her crib because she is quite the cuddle bug when she wakes up--when he was working it was perfect daddy/daughter time. Well the past week I think D has been pretending not to hear Elle-belle so I get up and save her from "the prison that is the crib" in the morning; all of a sudden she's sticking to me like glue!! It's kind of frustrating actually and I think that D's kindof secretly enjoying not being the default parent for a while. One thing is for sure -- this kid needs some siblings or something . . . this is a really critical point where she is really thinking she's the absolute center of the universe. It makes it harder on the parent . . . I think . . .
