Date Night

I really couldn't think of anything to blog about . . . but I realized Darik and I actually went out for a real-true-to-life date on Friday night. One of the first things we talked about in our first family meeting when we got here was that every week we'll babysite all the kids one night so my mom & dad can go out on a date night and vice versa on another night that week.

So for date night I called up all my old peeps. The chicas from the picture above are my high school amigas (circa 1996, girls camp). We all gathered for pizza and talkin and it was pretty fun. Later when we all had to put our kiddies to bed we split -- D & I came home, put El down and went to the dollar theatre to see Stranger Than Fiction. I could see why a lot of people didn't like it but I loved it -- it was a lot of thoughtful, subtle humor. Anyway, good times.

I have really enjoyed being able to be there for my neices. We've always had a really strong bond with them -- and that's been one of the most fulfilling things about being here so far. Ok, I best be goin' D's got some shelves for us to reassemble before we go (in ellie's words) 'night night'.
