Voice of the Bengals

I have to share the news - my dad is once again the voice of the bengals. See the ISU press release/article here. I grew up basically on the football field and basketball court of ISU as my dad did play-by-play for every single game. Sports broadcasting has always been his passion and it's the reason why my family ended up here in Pocatello -- my dad was working at KSL in Salt Lake as backup for Utah Jazz -- he would have had to wait a long time for Hot Rod to retire and get that spot, and ISU came along and offered him this spot right after I was born. This whole having a dad as a sports broadcaster along with four brothers also went a long way to shaping my tomboy-ishness. So it's kind of a part of all of our (us Millers) identities. Anyways I just wanted to send a great big shout out (CONGRATS) to my dad. My whole family is very excited. It's great news for my dad - he has been working 1.5+ full time jobs every day (waking up at 3 a.m.) for KLCE morning show and ISU. He will now be able to quit his KLCE job and go full-time ISU. He is awesome and everyone will be glad to have him back. Here is a portion of the article from above:

Miller has a long-standing history not just with Idaho State athletics, but in broadcasting in general. Jerry served as the "Voice of the Bengals" from 1982-94, covering many great moments in ISU history, including the 1994 regular season men's basketball title, ISU's last NCAA Tournament game in 1987, and several signature football moments.

Miller most famous Bengal call was of the "Globe of Death" in 1992, a play that still resonates today with thousands of Bengal fans. With just seconds left and trailing 20-17, ISU took a Boise State kickoff and had all 11 players huddle around the ball. Robert Johnson got to the Bronco 42, and two plays later, ISU had a touchdown and a miracle win, all with Miller at the microphone. Interestingly, Interim Director of Athletics Jeff Tingey was at that game as a 14-year old Bengal fan.

FYI that globe of death play by ISU made it on ESPN's Sportcenter and I think even the plays of the week. I remember being there at that game (I was 11) and watching it happen.
