My brother just entered the MTC on Wednesday for his mission. He is going to serve for two years in the Harrisburg Pennsylvania mission. He is very very psyched. It is kind of hard to see him go (but mostly glad, of course). Growing up me and my two younger bros were tight and it's kinda weird to know that right now he's a teenager and when he gets back he's going to be a man. Anyway, the picture below is how I remember him way back in the good old days. He is probably 3 or 4 and sitting on our couch with our dog Rusty (half chihuahua/half terrier). James was the youngest of 7 kids and let's just say it was interesting. At the end of the line most of the older ones were in charge of changing diapers, dressing, and keeping an eye on him. It was classic James to see him running around the neighborhood in a tshirt, diaper, and cowboy boots (he was 2 then).
I remember one time when he was little we couldn't find him so everybody started looking for him. We found him outside on the concrete driveway wearing cutoff sweats, no shoes, no shirt -- but he must have been tired because he just laid down and fell asleep. We took a picture of it before we woke him up -- it's awesome. I don't know how many of you have seen "Enemy Mine" from 1985 with Dennis Quaid. It's a cool old SciFi show with a little baby alien that is born and Quaid ends up raising him. The little guy's name is Zammis (Zaw-Mees) -- anyway my family likes that movie and James ended up with a morphed version of Zammis as a nickname . . . Haumeez. I think we will all miss having our Haumeez around. Love ya bro!
