Meeks Parks

Since I'm feeling all nostalgic and sentimental now I'll keep on going . . . today my other little bro Mike called me on the phone (his nickname is Meeks Parks--a morphed version of Cherokee Parks, a Duke Basketball player 1992-1995). He is the other one I'm closest to. He returned from his mission in Texas last year and during Thanksgiving proposed to his girlfriend. So my bro Mike is getting married on Feb 23. I'm excited for him too. It was so cool to talk to him on the phone for so long. I love that kid so much--because I babysat them so often growing up I kind of feel like a second mom to them--and I can just tell by talkin to him that he misses me and that just made me feel good. Mike could always make me laugh -- when I was in highschool we would sit down for dinner and without fail at least twice a week he would make me laugh so hard I had to race to the bathroom before I had an accident. One time I was playing RISK with him and his friend, The Mexican (that is seriously his nickname). Anyway I was down to one guy in Asia and Josh, the Mexican, owned everything else. He kept trying to come at me from every border and the dice gods must have been on my side that day because I put up such a defensive fight, I beat him so bad he couldn't fight me anymore. Just so happens on my next turn I got to turn in my cards for somethin like 120 guys. I just marched through the whole board and won in one turn. It will be a game never to be forgotten. I know that because that's why Meeks called me today, he was playing in Vegas and was down to one guy and was surrounded so it reminded him of that game so he had to call and reminisce. Good times. Anyway, the picture above is from Nauvoo this June when we had our family reunion. We were on the Trail of Hope and saw this entry from the pioneer, Priddy Meeks. So we had to take a picture of 'pretty Meeks' next to it. Classic. The other picture is just me and him in front of our house in Poky with our Sa-weet snowman. We were dang ca-yute kids!
