Well, I got more than I wanted for Christmas and definately more than I deserved. My man is so amazing, that's all that Christmas reminded me of. This is our first unemployed Christmas, and we've had pretty ghetto Christmases before . . . last year we used all of our Christmas $ on another family and we had a great time -- and this year we actually had some $ to burn . . . we have an mthly auto transfer into a christmas savings acct. We didn't want to use it all but we could splurge on one or two things for ourselves. So we went shopping and D bought a nice new putter and a travel kit. We got Elle 4 things from the $ store cuz she aint gonna know the dif and she already has lots of toys. We had looked around but hadn't bought anything for me yet, or so I
thought. We wake up Christmas morn & D had stayed up late the night before rearranging the room and getting our loads of presents out (we had someone secret santa us -- we love you, Gilmores!!). I actually knew that D had bought my first present months earlier because I saw it in the backseat of his truck where he was trying to hide it.
For almost 6 years I'd been using a skillet set we'd received as a gift from our reception. It was just wal-mart generic brand and the past 12 mo it's been really getting on my nerves. I really wanted a whole new set of pots & pans with lids, but I'll take what I can get. So I opened it and acted suprised until D said that he thought I knew that he knew that I knew . . etc. so I didn't have to act suprised :-) Then when presents were over I got up to go get breakfast ready and D said, "wait a second, why don't you go check the closet?"
So I did and there was a brand-spankin'-new sa-weet golf club bag (w/built in stand!). It was awesome I was way excited. I ran over and gave him a hug and he then said, "wait we're not done. go check your stocking . . . " You want to know what my man did? Well he was sneaky enough to buy me a new wedding ring. It kinda looks like my old one we bought as antique jewelry but the diamond fell off a few months ago.
I had asked that we maybe just bring it in and get a c.z. put in it . . . but it had been so long that I had resorted to just wearing my CTR ring on that hand (sometimes I even went ringless)!! D found a ring on like 80% clearance that was affordable (ie <$80) and that looks like my old one. So I LOVE it! It was so sweet and so thoughtful for him to put that much effort into Christmas (and for me), I was blown away!
