The New 'Do

So Ellie's hair has grown out since her one and only haircut . . . and every single night after the bath she cries and cries when I try to comb out her hair. She has been blessed AND cursed with her mothers thick hair. Which gets pretty knotty and ratty. When I was a kid and wouldn't let my mom brush my hair she told me if I didn't take care of my hair myself she would cut it short like a boy. So she did. So I told Ellie the same thing -- for the past week I've been telling her if she doesn't let me brush her hair I'll cut it short like a boy and she'll giggle and say, "Okay!". But after thinking about it for a week on Sunday night she said, "Mom, I don't want my hair short like a boy. I want it short like a girl!"

ZING! Duh mom, light bulb goes off above my head . . . that's a perfect arrangement. So this time I decide to hire a professional -- A lady in my old ward by the Holt cuts hair from her house so I called her up and today was the day. She cut my hair last year for Locks for Love and while it was too short for me to really like it she did a great job with what she had to work with. And Ellie was SO SO SO much better for her at sitting still and doing what she asked than she ever would have for me. Best of all? When it was time to pay -- she only charges kids haircuts for how old they are. So Ellie's new cute 'do was only $3!! Score! I will be coming back :-) Darik's coworker says it looks like Dora hair and that only makes Ellie smile more. Darik says she looks like a little munchkin from Wizard of Oz. But El & I both like it more -- no more knots . . . and both of Ellie & I are pretty low maintenance so we aren't into taking a lot of time to do hair.

Afterwards we stopped by the Holt to show daddy. The marching band was practicing inside and the girls always love to go and watch and dance to the music.

  3. So cute! Wow, $3 for that great haircut. I need to figure something out with Audrey's hair. She's 4 and a 1/2 and never had a haircut because of her lack of hair and I really want to hang on to it. Ugh, I just need to go get it cut and get rid of the almost-mullet she's got going on. You've inspired me! Thank you!!
