Stop the Auto Bailout

Contact your state representatives. You can email them by searching for your representative here and your senators here. With democrats in control I think it is now our responsibility to be more vocal than we have been before. Here is the copy of the message I sent to my rep & senator:

I would just like you to know I'm deeply opposed to an auto-industry bailout. It is a totally different thing than the financial industry -- much of which is so complex they didn't know they were working with worthless MBSecurities. The auto industry's problem is not complex and they need to fail before they can succeed. Did you know that Japanese car companies in the US pay their workers and average of $44.20 per hour while our big 3 average $72.31 per hour? (see Greg Mankiw or Mark Perry's webpages for data source). They expect to compete against companies and win when UAW is forcing an extra $30 per hour out of them? No. If they fail and we have to end up all driving foreign cars, so be it - that is the price of union debauchery and executive incompetence! This is why Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Kia, BMW, Daimler, Hyundai are facing the same contracting demand and credit crunch but they are quietly weathering the storm, not seeking taxpayer's money.

Sincerely,

Kristine Anderson

Like Garnet commented, go to Mitt Romney's OP-ED entitled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt"
